CabinCalm Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how João Reis (“we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the CabinCalm mobile application and related forecast service (“CabinCalm”). CabinCalm does not require you to create an account and does not contain advertising or cross-app tracking.

1. Information stored on your device

CabinCalm may store selected airports, recent airport choices, saved forecasts, app preferences, notification settings and locally scheduled flight reminders on your device. If a beta calibration feature is enabled, pending calibration entries may also be stored locally until uploaded or deleted.

This local information normally remains on your device until you remove it in the app or delete the app. iCloud or device backups are controlled by your Apple settings and Apple’s policies.

2. Information sent to our service

When you request or refresh a forecast, CabinCalm sends the selected origin and destination airports, the planned local take-off date and time, and technical request information needed to return and protect the service.

CabinCalm uses Apple App Attest. This creates an app-installation security key and sends cryptographic attestations and assertions so we can verify genuine app requests, prevent abuse, apply free-journey limits and associate subscription access with the verified installation. We do not receive your Apple Account password or payment-card details.

If you purchase or restore CabinCalm Pro, Apple processes the payment. We receive signed transaction information needed to verify access, such as product, transaction, original-transaction, environment and expiry identifiers.

Our service processes the request IP address to enforce security and rate limits. We store a pseudonymous cryptographic hash in short-lived rate-limit records rather than storing the raw IP address in those records. Hosting providers may process network and diagnostic information in their service logs.

If an internal beta calibration feature is enabled and you choose to submit a report, the upload can include the selected route, journey times, the forecast shown to you, comfort ratings, flight phase, flight level, seatbelt-sign state, nearby waypoint and optional notes. Do not include personal or sensitive information in optional notes.

3. How we use information

4. Service providers and data sharing

We share information only as needed to operate CabinCalm, comply with law or protect rights and security. Relevant providers include:

Weather providers generally receive route points, requested times and technical request data needed to provide conditions; they do not receive your name or Apple Account credentials from CabinCalm. We require service providers that process information for us to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.

5. Retention and deletion

Saved flights, recent airports, preferences and reminders stored by CabinCalm remain locally until you remove them or delete the app.

Short-lived rate-limit buckets normally expire within approximately two hours. Installation-security, free-access and subscription-entitlement records are retained while needed to provide access, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, meet accounting or legal obligations and maintain service integrity. Voluntary beta-calibration reports are retained while reasonably needed to evaluate and improve forecast quality, unless deletion is requested or a longer period is legally required.

Forecast and weather records may be retained as operational or model-quality records. Where these records are no longer linked to an app-installation identifier and cannot reasonably identify a person, they may be retained for service improvement and statistical purposes.

To request access, correction or deletion of server-side information associated with your CabinCalm installation, use the support contact published on CabinCalm’s App Store product page. We may need a technical installation reference and reasonable verification before acting on a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You can withdraw notification permission in iOS Settings and stop future collection by no longer making requests or by deleting the app.

6. Security

We use technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, including encrypted network transport, Apple App Attest, access controls and request-rate protections. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International processing

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on recognised legal safeguards for international transfers. Mandatory privacy rights in your country or region remain available to you.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and to complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions. CabinCalm does not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

9. Children

CabinCalm is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when CabinCalm, our providers or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice for material changes where required.
